I arrived in Jinja as a 3 month old in 1955.

My parents were Mr G.G.Joshi and Mrs.Savitadevi Joshi. My father was a teacher at Magwa Primary School for most of his time in Jinja, except in 1964 when he was Headmaster at Uganda Rifles/Police school, where he came in contact with Idi Amin.

Amin was a Colonel then and his kids were studying at the school. This friendship helped my father in 1972 when he was one of the few teachers allowed by Amin to stay back after all the Asians had left Uganda. My mother was actively involved in the temples in Jinja and raising us six children. From 1962 -1970, I studied at Magwa Primary School.

From 1971 - Feb 1972, I was at Parvatiben Muljibhai Madhvani Girls Secondary School

From Feb 1972 - Oct 1972, I was at Old Kampala Secondary School, Kampala.

I left Entebbe airport with my little brother on 0cot ober 22 1972 and came to London U.K. to continue my education. My two brothers and I studied at Ackworth boarding school.

After staying in U.K. for a number of years, we moved to Canada. Now I am happily married to Dr.Harshad Dave from Mombasa, Kenya. We have three young children. Dr.Dave has his own private veterinary practicein Vaughn, Ontario. I manage his business and and am raising a family of three young children.

I would welcome contact from my class mates Sudha Trivedi, Urvashi Mehta, Kalindini Bhatt, Deepika Chakraborty, Jayshree Mhasawade, Jasu Mistry, Jyotsana Raja, and anyone else who may remember me from my childhood days. Please e-mail me at above address.

All the best to you all.

-Mina
