Hello my name is Rajnikant Jivabhai Patel from Ilford, Essex (Bhanu Patel's younger brother)

I left senior secondary school, Jinja in 1963. I used to live in Iganga Road, opposite Singer sawing machine shop. I was born in Jinja during the World War 2 in 1943.I attended the Inder Singh Gill Bal Mandir School at the age of 5 where Kesubhai was our Headmaster and Dahiben was our teacher.Suresh and Manu Patel,Nilu Mehta, Babu Patel,Mohan D Patel,Harish Popat,Bharat Madlani, Rashmi of Photo Atoms, and late Rashmi Somaiya were some of the students whom I remember were students at the time. Then I attended Govt. Primary School Naranbhai Road.

In 1955 we played Inter School Sports Competition between Jinja, Kampala and Mbale at Jinja and in cricket we won the championship beating all the teams. It was all teamwork. In one of the matches Mbale School was shot out for mere 22 runs. The chief destroyers were our bowlers, i.e. Bahadur of Jubille Ice and Soda Works and the Late K K Karia of Zenith C C.The other team members in that team were Suresh M Patel, the wicket keeper, Nizar Shariff,Mohan D Patel, Pravin (PL),Late Rashmi Somaiya, and Hassan Bin Tabla of Harazi Stores.I did PS 7 and 8 in Magwa School in 1957 and 1958.Mr B.Das was the Headmaster and the school was made up of kids from Naranbhai Road Primary School and Wooden School.

Mr S.V.Patel, Mr Dalal, Mr B. D.Silva and Mr Cherion were the teachers in that school I could remember.During 1959 to 1963 I was in Senior Secondary School where the Headmasters were Mr R N Banerjee and Mr E M Batchelor. In the early years Mr Oliveira,Mr Bhashir, Mrs Avesthi, Mr Hussain and Mrs Desai were our teachers I remember. I was one of the members of the notorious class FIVE C. At cricket and hockey I represented the School in the First Eleven and played for Jinja 11 against the visiting MCC Team in 1963.

I was one of the two schoolboys picked to play for Jinja 11, the other was Sharad Nari Chandiramani.

I came to London in 1964 and presently I am working for Moorfields Eye Hospital before I retire in three years time. Prior to this I served British Gas for 26 years in the Customer Accounts Dept. I am married with two lovely daughters and ever-caring wife, Madhu.
